Have a baby that you need to bottle feed? Here is a recipe for milk replacer.
1 Gallon Milk ( Whole with Vitamin D)
1 C. buttermilk
1 12 oz. can evaporated milk
Take enough whole milk out of the gallon to add the buttermilk, and evaporated milk. Shake well and feed warm
Have a doe that is stressed from kidding? This is helpful for a goat that is dehydrated
5 quarts warm water
8 Tablespoons of Sugar
4 Teaspoons Salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Things I found interesting about goats:

* Goats hate rain, water puddles, and mud

* Goats are browsers not grazers

* Goats pant when the temperature and humidity rise

* Goats have a 320-340 degree panoramic field of vision, and a 20-60 degree binocular vision.

* A goat makes an estimated 40,000-60,000 jaw movements per day.

* An adult goats rumen can hold 3-6 gallons of feed.

* A 250 pound buck can break a 2"x 6" with very little effort.

* An average goat will consume 490 pounds of hay during a typical 90 day winter feeding period.

* A blast to the face stream of liquid from a spray filled with vinegar laced water will divert most bucks.

How much does your goat weigh?

Take a seamstress tape around a goats heart girth, directly behind its front legs. Round down the resulting measurement to the next full number and compare the measurement with the chart. It's just that easy.

You can tell the basic age of your goat by the development of the teeth.
There are different ways to administer injectable medications:

IM- giving the injection into the large muscle which allows the medication to absorb into the system reasonably quick.

Sub.Q- Giving the injection into the subcutaneous layer which allows for slower absorption and tends to have less chance for site infection for with some drugs.

IV-  Directly into the vein which is better left up to a veterinarian to perform.
Some articles that I have heard or read that seemed interesting and useful to me.
